Other Schooling Expenses

There is a wide range of bursaries and grants available for students to apply for to defray their living expenses.

Students who need financial assistance may apply for:

1. BURSARIES

SP-Administered Bursaries/ Scholarships/ Grants

± Donors-Sponsored Bursaries

Application will open from 3 April - 5 May 2017 (For AY2017/18 Sem 1)

Each year, hundreds of merit awards and bursaries are given out through this scheme because of the generous donations of organizations and individuals. The values of the bursaries awards are between $1,000 to $3,000 per academic year.

All full-time diploma students who need financial assistance are encouraged to apply for this category of financial assistance first.

Selections are based on donors' criteria (which may include nationality, course, academic performance, financial circumstances, CCA etc). Short-listed candidates may be contacted to attend interviews if required by the donor.

Note: Students should make other arrangements to pay for their school fees for the first semester while waiting for their application for financial assistance to be approved.

Application Procedures

  • Please apply online via the Student Portal (Under e-Services > Financial Assistance)
  • Prepare the supporting documents listed in the Application Form and Checklist. You may need the Income Declaration Form for family members who are self-employed or unemployed. Examples of the required documents are given in the application guide video above. Please submit your applications to:

    - Auditorium Lounge (beside T17, level 2) from 3 - 21 Apr, 8.30am - 6.00pm, OR
    - Student Service Centre (T16 Level 1) from 24 Apr - 5 May, 8.00am - 5.30pm

     
  • Please ensure your address in Student Portal is accurate

Applicants will be informed via the student ichat email by mid June of the result of application.

For Singaporean students, once you put in the application for donors-sponsored scholarship/bursary, SP will also help you to apply for either the CDC/CCC-Polytechnic Bursary or the MOE Bursary, depending on your family income. You do not have to apply for them again in the same academic year.

± CDC/CCC-Polytechnic Bursary

Application will open from 3 April - 5 May 2017 (For AY2017/18 Sem 1)

  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI*) of $1,000 and below or gross household income (GHI^) of $4,000 and below
  • Not in receipt of the MOE Bursary in the same Academic Year

Application Procedures

Successful applicants will be notified by the Community Centre (CC) nearest to your home regarding the collection of bursary cheque from July / August 2017.

Please ensure your address in Student Portal is accurate. (Applicants who wish to know the actual date of collection may check with the nearest CC)

External Bursaries

± South West Tertiary Grant

Application must be submitted to the nearest Community Club (CC) in the South West District from May 2017 - 31 March 2018.

Quantum: $500/ Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore citizen and resident of the South West District
  • Full-time student
  • Monthly household income of $3,000 or per capita income of $750 and below, whichever is lower; and
  • Deserving students who fall out of the eligibility criteria due to exceptional family circumstances (for example, those with family members who have high medical expenses), may be nominated, subject to CDC's approval for the Grant.

Application form can be obtained from the nearest CC in the South West District.

± GIC Study Grant

Application will open from 10 April to 28 April 2017

Quantum: $3,500 / Academic Year

Eligibility Criteria

  • Singaporeans
  • Full-time 2nd and 3rd year Diploma students
  • Gross monthly household per capita income (PCI)* of $2000 and below
  • Actively involved in community service

Application Procedures

  • Please put in an application for the SP Donors-Sponsored bursary together with your application form for this Grant.
  • The Department of Student Development and Alumni Relations will contact suitable candidates for an interview around the end of April
