Making the list of this year's Creative Industries and MICA Scholarship Awards recipients were eight Singapore Polytechnic (SP) graduates and students from the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology(DMIT) and SP Design School (SD).
They were selected based on their creative portfolios and potential to contribute to the growth and development of the creative industries in Singapore.
Among the recipients from DMIT are Diploma in Digital Media and Chua Chor Teck Gold Medal winner, Vicki Lau, and four Diploma in Music and Audio Technology(DMAT) graduates who were all awarded the Media Development Authority (MDA) Media Education Scheme. They will play a role in the MDA's initiative to develop media manpower in Broadcasting, Film, Music and other relevant sectors.
Another notable recipient from DMIT is final-year DMAT student, Grace Lee Hui Min. She was awarded the Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship by the National Arts Council and is the only recipient from SP to get her scholarship before graduating.
Rounding up the list are SD graduates Gavin Yeo Wei Ming and Justin Tan who received the MDA Media Education Scheme and the DesignSingapore Scholarship respectively.
The Creative Industries Scholarships started from a national effort in 2006 to transform Singapore into a global city for arts, heritage, media and design.
