On 15 Dec 2014, 20 DBKF second year students attended an interview and CV writing skills workshop organised by Barclays Bank. We were warmly welcomed by Mr Felix Green, director of the treasury team, who gave the opening speech.
Topics such as CV writing skills, managing first impressions, and interview dos and don’ts were covered during the session. Next, we were presented with an opportunity to practise our newly acquired skills with our mentors and feedback was given based on our performance. Overall, the session was not only informative, but also enriching as the topics covered are essential life skills that we can apply when we join the workforce.
Following our mock interviews, a tour was conducted in their Raffles Quay Dealing Room by Mr Yeoh Han Long. We were briefed on the various functions/departments in the Dealing Room. It was really fascinating to get a first-hand experience of how different departments work hand in hand to meet clients’ needs and to manage the bank’s internal requirements. We are grateful for the rare opportunity to visit the typically out-of-bounds Dealing Room.
During lunch, we mingled and networked with the friendly and hospitable Barclays team. We were able to better appreciate industry practices and career opportunities.
Our sincere thanks to the Barclays’ treasury team for the privilege and warm hospitality! We definitely look forward to more learning exposures with Barclays.
