Singapore Polytechnic Business School's Gerald Wong (Diploma in Accountancy) was the 1st Runner Up and Dominique Soon (Diploma in Banking and Financial Services) was the 5th Runner Up at the 2011 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office held in San Diego, California. This is what Gerald and Dominique had to say about their experience in San Diego.
“It has been a great honour to represent Singapore at this year’s Microsoft Office competition in San Diego. We made many new friends, not just from the Singapore team but also from other countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mexico. The competition was a 1-day event with activities planned for the rest of the 3 days while we were at the competition venue. We got a taste of the American lifestyle through watching a live baseball game and truly experienced the Americans’ love for baseball! Also, we had a sand sculpting activity during which we worked with students from other countries to build an elaborate sand sculpture.
During the 10-day trip, we visited places like the San Diego Zoo and Disneyland. The best part about visiting Disneyland was when we really got to let our hair down and enjoy ourselves after working so hard for the competition.
To top off this great experience, each student competitor was presented with an xBox 360, which was the ultimate icing on the cake!! This trip has really been a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us and will be one of the precious memories that we will bring with us after we graduate next year.”
