The Islamic Banking Study Trip was my first trip with the school. Overall, it was a fun and enriching
trip. Attending this trip was like taking a short module on Islamic banking, giving me an overview and
better understanding about the sector.
The bank and industry visits were interesting and fruitful. At Bank Negara, we learned about
the differences between Islamic banking and conventional banking, the process of approving
Islamic financial products and the role of the Shariah Advisory Council. I enjoyed myself during
the visit to CIMB and Kuwait Finance House. At CIMB, the director/ CEO of CIMB Islamic spoke
to us about Islamic banking and about himself. It was fascinating to listen to the personal
experiences of the director/CEO.
The talk by Kuwait Finance House (KFH) improved my knowledge on Islamic banking. For
example, I understand more about Shariah and Islamic investment banking. The staff at
KFH were friendly too. During the break, my friends and I spoke with a staff from Corporate
Communications who shared with us the functions of her department. It was a memorable
visit for me.
The visit to Top Glove was fun too. We visited
the production lines and I discovered how rubber
gloves were manufactured. We later attended a
short talk on small/mid cap stocks and investment
by a UOB Kay Hian representative. The talk enabled
me to understand what we should look at when
investing in such stocks.
Besides the visits and talks, we also did some
shopping in KL and Malacca. During the free time,
I had fun hanging out with my class mates and
making new friends too.
Overall, the visits were really great and I truly appreciate
the efforts put in by the school to make t his trip fun and
enjoyable. This trip exceeded my expectations and I
sincerely hope that the school will plan another one soon as I would definitely love to join again!
