Diploma in Business Administration Students Emerge Champions in International Marketing Competition
5 Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing Management Option students from the School of Business clinched the Gold Award in the annual 5th International Marketing Competition 2008 organised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Singapore, on 25 October 2008. Despite the keen competition, the SB team managed to edge out other local teams from other institutes of higher learning.
The judges had good words of praise for the team’s marketing plan. One of the judges was so impressed with innovative business model of The Pet Keepers that he said he would be willing to invest money in such a business start-up.
Team leader Sebestian Soh said “Taking part in such an international competition makes us realise where we stand in the international arena. We are humbled by what students from other institutions, both local and foreign, are capable of and I think we achieved our victory by a very close margin. This attests to the excellent training and education we receive at SP’s School of Business which enables us to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best from other institutions.”
The other members of the winning team are Ang Chze Wee, Lim Qin Yi, Soh Chay Ying and Yvonne Chua. Together with their advisers, Mr Chin Kin Yong and Mr M.Thiyagarajan, they worked for four months to perfect their business model, marketing plan and the presentation for the Finals. “We will always remember the late nights and last minute improvements to get ready the presentation in time for the Finals,” said Chze Wee.
