A group of enthusiastic third year students from the Diploma in Business Innovation and Design  (DBID) Jamie Loh, Chee Jay Sian, Darryl Hoh and Lye Jia Wei banded together to compete in the Youth Entrepreneurs Competition 2016 organised by the Singapore Discovery Centre.
The competition was open to secondary and post-secondary students. Teams comprising 4 to 5 students were to adopt a charity and raise funds for their adopted charity with their business plan.  The DBID team, PAW PRINTS who competed in the post-secondary category are among the 15 finalists, out of a 100 teams.

The event culminates on Saturday 16 July 2015 and the event titled Youthphoria will be a fun, family carnival.
The team shared their thoughts’ on their journey thus far. Being animal lovers, the team decided on the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) as their adopted charity. Their aim is to raise awareness about cruelty to animals in Singapore and make society more conscious of such abuse so that it may be prevented.

Their business plan is to sell tote bags which would be customised with stickers of various paw prints such as dogs, cats and rabbits, and unique quotes. The team also came up with unique quotes such as “cat roars” and “dog whispers”. Each member brings a different skill set, ranging from artistic design to project and time management.

It’s taken several days of hard work and brain-storming to come up with their proposal which enabled them to reach the finals. They plan to work with SPCA to sell the tote bags as well as use social media and Carousel to spread the message. It is a universal message which helps prevent cruelty to animals which deserves our support. So please do remember to diarise the date - Saturday 16 July 2015 to join the family carnival at the Singapore Discovery Centre. We wish them every success!
