Park Hotel Farrer Park trip

On the 5th of June 2017, our DTRM Year 2 cohort got the opportunity to volunteer for a trip to Park Hotel Farrer Park for a tour to have a peek into their hotel rooms and facilities available. Together with Mrs. Farah Seet, we set off from Singapore Polytechnic to the drop-off point of the hotel, only to be greeted by their friendly staff. Thereafter, we split ourselves into smaller groups such that it would be easier for facilitation.

The hotelier who guided my group throughout the tour was Ms Yuenyun from the sales department. She gave us a warm welcome and we could all sense her excitement in sharing with us this newly built hotel she works in. Completed in 2016, Park Royal Farrer Park is currently still undergoing minor renovations for a direct link from the hotel’s lobby to the MRT station. Apart from this, everything else in the hotel fully operational, and there’s no denying their design and décor have wowed us all.

Ms Yuenyun started off her tour by bringing us to the 3 different types of hotel rooms, namely the sky loft, premier room, and superior or deluxe room. It was truly an eye opener witnessing the beauty of the first 2 rooms, because it was designed to make use of its small space into an equally comfortable room with full-fledged facilities for lodging. In addition, the hotel made use of their high ceiling benefit to introduce the concept of a mini double storey room, bringing guests a tinge of enthusiasm towards coming over to stay. Safety measures were taken very seriously too, as seen by the handrails built in every room on the second level.

Thereafter, we were brought to have a special peek at their chic lounge which was only accessible to certain guests, and it was truly an honour witnessing the scenic view from above, and soaking in to the luxurious ambience of the polished lounge. Finally, we got to visit the hotel’s blue jasmine, a thai refined restaurant serving all-day breakfast buffet, and ala carte lunch and dinner meals. There’s also an outdoor pool, gym and a spa.
     
The tour ended with everyone gathering beside the swimming pool, enjoying the scenery and having the hotel’s HR manager Ms Jenn Chong to give us a final brief and share with us her inspirational story on how she became a hotelier. We are all very grateful for the time, effort and sincerity of the staff especially Ms Chong, for rushing down to meet and share some guidance with us. It has definitely been an unforgettable experience, and we would also like to thank our lecturers for planning and organising this trip specially for us. Thank you!
