The Common Foundation Programme is designed to equip students, new to the field of art and design, with elementary skills to generate ideas and communicate design concepts.
It trains novice students in the fundamentals of design with structured lessons, and has a cross-disciplinary curriculum that allows exploration and experimentation of different materials, media and design methods. Teaching of 2D & 3D visualization and graphic communication skills, enhanced by a module in the appreciation of Art & Design Culture and Philosophy, is at the heart of the course’s content. In addition, the imparting of soft skills, values and ethics within the course is equally vital for success in the design discipline.
The four core modules of the programme are: Visual Arts Studio, Foundation Design Studio, Basic Drawing Class and Graphic Communication.
