Three student teams participated in the Living aRRRt from Urban Waste Competition 2010 which was jointly organised by the National Environment Agency and Woodgrove Secondary School.
The theme for the tertiary institutions’ category, “A Sustainable Gift to our Future Generations”, was in line with Singapore’s effort in creating greater awareness in the appreciation of nature and environmental issues. In addition, the competition provides students with the opportunity to express their creativity and innovation through the use of recyclable materials. It aims to encourage and inspire youths to practise the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) by the use of recyclable and reusable materials such as aluminium cans, plastic containers, plastic bottles, drain cans, etc. in the construction of the sculptures.
Judging of the 10 short-listed finalists was held at Anchor Green Primary School during the Clean & Green Singapore Schools Carnival 2010 on 8 November and our 3 teams won the Merit and Finalist Prize. Congratulations to them!
