DEWT & DCEB students won prizes in Living aRRRT from Urban Waste Competition 2011

A group of eight students from the Diploma in Civil Engineering with Business (DCEB) won the 2nd prize in the Living aRRRt from Urban Waste Competition 2011 (Tertiary Institution Category) held at ITE College West on 9 November.

Jointly organised by the National Environment Agency and Woodgrove Secondary School, the competition was part of the 2-day Clean & Green Singapore Schools' Carnival activities.

The theme for the tertiary institutions’ category, “Cherish Our Beautiful Environment”, was in line with Singapore’s effort in creating greater awareness in the appreciation of Nature and environmental issues. In fact, the themes tie in well with the key thrusts of Sustainable Development Blueprint. The competition aims at encouraging and inspiring youths to practice the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). It provides students the opportunity to express their creativity and innovation through the use of recyclable materials.

In addition, one other team from DCEB and one team from the Diploma in Environmental Management and Water Technology (DEWT) also win finalist prizes.

We are all proud of our students' effort and this competition has been a good learning experience for them. Congratulations to the team!
