After fifteen years working in the banking industry with institutions such as Citibank N.A., ABN-Amro Bank and State Bank of New South Wales, specialising in Corporate Banking, Syndications and Trade Finance, among others, Andrew felt it was time for a change. So when his Singaporean wife was offered a good position back in Singapore, they decided to move from Sydney (his home town) and Andrew joined SP in 1993. Over the years he has taught subjects as disparate as Business Development, International Business, Geography of Global Tourism, Service Quality Management and Management & Organisational Behaviour.
Andrew especially enjoys managing projects where students are acting as consultants for real businesses in Singapore. Over the years he has been involved in many of these projects with businesses ranging from small entrepreneurs to large listed companies. He never fails to be impressed with the quality of work – surveys, analysis, presentations and recommendations that our students are capable of imagining, creating and executing. It is most gratifying when these companies adopt students’ ideas and strategies for increasing market share, redesigning corporate websites, trying out new forms of advertising and promotion – especially in this new age of social media!
Getting one year older every year while students always remain 17-19 can be a challenge, but it truly keeps one young and the satisfaction derived from seeing former students doing well in university and in the corporate world is immense. Andrew is happy that he made the decision to make his career in SP Business School.
