What You'll Study

Preparatory Design Studio

The module aims to expose students to design methodologies and techniques as a way to interpret and generate design ideas. They will be provided the knowledge and skills application in areas of critical thinking and analytical skills, design conceptualization, design generation and design development. The topics covered will range from digital photographic medium to learning the techniques and tools for illustration and image processing in graphic design, understanding typography and the importance of setting type appropriately for effective visual and design communication. Students will also be exposed to history and theory of art and design and apply skills in interpretative reading.

Exploratory Design Thinking Studio I

The module is a progression from the preparatory design studio module. Students will build upon what has been introduced for the first module. They will continue to hone their knowledge and skill sets in areas of critical thinking and analytical skills, design conceptualization, design generation and design development.

Exploratory Design Thinking Studio II

This module is a progression from Exploratory Design Studio I as students will continue to be exposed to design methodologies and techniques as a way to interpret and generate design ideas.

Exploratory Design Thinking Studio III

This module is a progression from Exploratory Design Studio II and it continues to expose students to different design media aligned to the current and relevant design culture and industry through exploration and experimentation. This module serves to be a design clinic where students consult tutors for their final year project and could undertake complex design issues that would range from social and cultural dimensions through live project briefs or explorative design projects. Students will also continue to hone their writing and generation of ideas and design strategies.
