Reaping rewards

Ho Quan Hui, of the Diploma of Electrical & Electronic Engineering course, joins the ranks of five of his predecessors from Singapore Polytechnic to be chosen for the James O. Gray-Fieldbus Foundation Educational Scholarship. This scholarship program honours the memory of the late James O. Gray, a long-time leader in the Fieldbus Foundation. Other scholarship recipients come from countries like USA, Canada, Netherlands and Japan. See past winners.

Quan Hui has his diligence, positive attitude and involvement in other areas, besides academic pursuits, as reasons for him to be chosen for the award. He was on the Directors’ Honours roll for his first two years of diploma studies, for being amongst the top ten percent in his cohort. He also participated in the WorldSkills Singapore Competition in 2008 and walked away with Bronze in Industrial Control.

Outside of the classroom and away from the technical arena, he is active in community services with his regular visits to the elderly in care centres. He was also a member of SP’s Peer Tutoring Club to help academically weak students. He also enjoys playing badminton and was in the school team. Quan Hui plans to pursue a degree which allows him to focus on Industrial Control after he graduates from SP.

This award for Quan Hui is also an achievement for SP. Dr Yang Rong Huan, Deputy Director of the R &D Division, of the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering adds, “It recognises SP’s dedication in providing excellent education in instrumentation and control area.”
