On 8 July 2015, the DHRMP Student Chapter organised the annual HR Bonding Day. The event’s aim is to allow our Year 1 students to bond and build friendships not only with their classmates, but also with their course mates.
To start off the event, about 80 Year 1 students were treated to a delectable buffet which consisted of fried rice, sushi, drinks, chocolate éclairs and more. After which, our Year 1s were split into 6 groups, each with 2 facilitators. The groups were given an hour to play ice breaking games for them to get to know their course mates better. Since this year’s bonding day followed the theme ‘Disney’, our Year 1s were also required to “Dress up the Princess” within the given one hour. In this activity, each group was to select a member to be their ‘Princess’, and dress them up as creatively as possible, using the materials provided e.g. markers, balloons, newspapers, and strings. Moreover, the ‘Princess’ had to keep her outfit on until the end of the bonding day as amazing prizes were to be awarded to the ‘Best Dressed Princess’.
Following the warm up activities, the groups proceeded to play Amazing Race. This consisted of 3 games: “Save Your Princess”, “Whisper Challenge”, and “Breaking the Princesses’ Code”. At each station, each group went against another group and the winners of each game would be awarded points, entitling them to an array of prizes. After the groups had completed the Amazing Race, they participated in a mass game at the foyer. In this mass game, each member had balloons tied to their ankles. The main aim was to protect their ‘Princess’s’ balloons from being popped by the opposing team. The whole foyer was filled with laughter and squeals as each group tried their best to pop the other’s balloons. Eventually, only 2 groups were left and a battle for the winning title ensued.
The event finally ended once all the points from the Amazing Race were collated and the winning groups of the Amazing Race, the mass game and “Dress up the Princess” were awarded their tokens of sweets, chocolates and other delicious snacks. The event proved to be an awesome and entertaining one as many of our Year 1s enjoyed themselves thoroughly, and made many new friends within their course. Here is what some of them said about the bonding day:

“I think it’s good that we were formed into different teams! We not only got to know more students from the other classes, we also bonded as a whole DHRMP course too!
