Smiling DHRMP interns at Kelly Services
The Diploma in Human Resource Management with Psychology (DHRMP) has designed a more comprehensive and value-added internship opportunity by partnering with Kelly Services to offer a 20-week Recruitment Specialist Internship Programme (RSIP) to a selected group of students.
The objectives of the Recruitment Specialist Internship Programme are:
• To develop home-grown recruitment specialists to do employment agency work according to the Employment Agency Regulatory Framework;
• To equip DHRMP students with relevant Certificate of Employment Intermediaries (CEI) and create opportunities for a more comprehensive and value- added internship opportunity;
• To enhance the employability of SP’s DHRMP graduates.
Eight students were selected to this programme where Kelly Services trains and prepares these students for the Certificate of Employment Intermediaries (Basic) course and test so that they can be certified to do employment agency work. Each student is assigned to a company mentor who would guide and monitor the student intern’s progress throughout the programme.
Under the Employment Agency Regulatory Framework, employment agency personnel need to undergo a certification course called the CEI and pass the test before they can perform any employment agency-related work. The CEI aims to equip employment agency personnel with the necessary knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations. This ensures that employment agencies understand the law and their obligations, and fulfil their professional obligations to their clients.
SP’s DHRMP students have benefitted from this experience and here are some of their comments:-
“Being an intern in an employment agency really broadens the scope of learning, as it allows us to interact with different companies from different industries. Additionally, Kelly Services provides a comprehensive recruitment experience from hiring to payroll to renewal and termination of contracts. Definitely worth considering - 10/10” – Tneoh Yuan Chen, student intern

Opting for Kelly Services’ internship programme was indeed the right choice” – Ng Qi Yin, student intern
“My internship at Kelly Services has given me the opportunity to explore the roles of a recruiter and be involved in the full spectrum of responsibilities, starting from job order acquisition to the sourcing process, interview and finally the placement of candidate. Through this, I get a wider perspective of the thoughts and considerations that goes through employers’ minds when they consider a candidate for a job. This equips me with the relevant skills and knowledge and gave me a competitive edge over other applicants when I enter the workforce in the near future. My colleagues have been very encouraging and patient in making my learning curve gentle. On top of that, they also make it a point to create learning points for me with each task given to me. Through this internship, I’m also very privileged to be attached to a diverse and fun department making everyday fun and enriching.” - Natladda Puangpathumanond, student intern

Kelly Services Response
Kelly Services Singapore’s Acting Country General Manager, Mr Foo See Yang, sees the synergies of collaborating with Singapore Polytechnic and sums it up well:
“Our partnership with Singapore Polytechnic is an excellent representation of our corporate social responsibility initiatives. It provides students who have a keen interest in and aptitude for Human Resources Management, an opportunity to carry out their internships with us. This not only exposes them to the real-life working environment, it also enables them to develop practical work skills, particularly in areas of recruitment and staffing selections. Over the years, this program has been highly successful as we are able to prepare and groom them to excel in the corporate world.”
