Mr Nick Naung Naung, Country Manager of Finnair Singapore was invited to be a guest speaker during the “Airline Services Management (ASM)” lecture slot on 23 November 2015. Nick is an SP alumni and graduated with a diploma in Business Administration (Tourism Management) about 15 years ago. During his talk on 23 November, he was assisted by one of DTRM’s intern, Koh Yu Shan who is currently attached to Finnair. The talk centred on the marketing strategies of airlines in particular, Finnair.
Nick covered on the channel mix and customer segmentation of Finniar and the methods deployed the airline to woo customers. Finnair’s fleet of airplanes operate on a 2-class configuration. There are only Business and Economy class seats on all its aircrafts. The flight path of Finnair’s planes from Asia to Europe, takes the northern route which is shorter than traditional Asia-Europe routes.
Nick also disclosed that Finnair has ordered a few Airbus A30 XWB (new generation wide-bodied aircrafts) planes from France. The first one operating from Singapore will commence in May 2016.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the talk which reinforced what they recently studied on the topic of Airline Passenger Marketing.
At the end of the talk, Nick gave out prizes to some students during a brief quiz session.
