“Are You Red-y, Singapore?”

After 22 years, Singapore will be hosting the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games next year! Most events will be held at the newly opened Sports Hub. To mark the one year countdown and the opening of the Sports Hub, Sports Singapore held a grand ceremony on 27 June 2014.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Sport Singapore, Lim Teck Yin, there are about 200 young athletes from different sports who are training for the 28th SEA games. These athletes are also receiving support from Singapore with grants and scholarships from different organisations.

Singtel is officially the largest sponsor for the 2015 SEA Games

Singtel and NTUC are among the big sponsors. In fact, Singtel is the largest sponsor, pumping in $15 million while NTUC is providing $5 million.

Nila, the 28th SEA Games Mascot

The Mascot for the games is Nila, who represents passion and friendship. Nila will be rallying Singaporeans to support the games.

Age does not matter as everyone gets a workout before the walk-a-jog

To celebrate the countdown of “One Year to SEA Games”, a walk-a-jog was held which attracted families and friends who turned up wearing red sports attire. It was simply an exhilarating sight to see a sea of red coming together to show their Singapore spirit in support for the SEA Games.
The Singapore Sports Council says many Singaporeans are keen to buy tickets for the SEA games. Priority sales will start as early as October 2014.
