Suresh Kumar Sarad first ventured into the world of online commerce at the tender age of 12. With the desire of making an income and his innate curiosity, Suresh dabbled in online marketing via Pay Per Click (PPC). His “business” earned him US$200, a huge amount for a child. That first taste of earning his own keep drove him to learn more about online business models and engine optimisation.

After graduating from Victoria School with excellent grades, Suresh chose to study Business Information Technology at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) as he was determined to gain more knowledge in this field and at the same time develop holistically. Suresh said: “In the past, I only focused on my studies. But in SP, I had a more balanced and holistic education. I took on co-curricular activities, did community service and had the opportunity to travel overseas for my internship.” He graduates with a GPA score of 3.993.

One of his personal achievements was being the pioneer student in SP to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for his internship. Working as an IT webmaster, he delivered a high quality of work that was recognised by his middle-eastern employer. With the experiences gathered Suresh founded Creed Media Pte Ltd, a flash game advertising company, together with his course mates from SP.

Despite it being a good business initiative, Suresh and his team faced a daunting challenge – they had no funding to build an advertising engine. After countless brainstorming sessions with lecturers and rigorous rounds of practice, the group finally hit gold when SPRING Singapore agreed to fund their project with $50,000 under the YES! Startups Scheme. The company signed on their first client in August 2009 and since then, big names like Microsoft, F&N, SingTel, Kaplan, Anderson’s and ERC Institute have jumped onto the bandwagon.

Suresh, winner of the Low Guan Onn Gold Medal, has been offered places both at Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore. He intends to pursue a Degree in Business Administration and sees himself, in 20 years’ time, helming a successful company at the forefront of technological innovation.
