Integrated Infocomm Scholars Celebrates

DMIT celebrated the achievements of 16 Integrated Infocomm Scholarship (IIS) over a scrumptous dinner with their families on 3 May 2010.  This new batch of scholars chose SP as their polytechnic of choice to pursue their dream infocomm courses that spread across diplomas such as Infocomm Security Management, Games Design and Development, and Financial Informatics, amongst others.

Mr Tan Choon Hiang, proud father of Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) first-year student Tan Jian Sin, was surprised when the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore called to inform the family of Jian Sin's scholarship award.  "We didn't expect Jian Sin to receive the scholarship and we are delighted," a smiling Mr Tan said as he related the situation.

Jian Sin, despite his excellent "O" Level results, had set his mind to enroll in a polytechnic as he felt that polytechnic courses offered more hands-on training as compared to one at a junior college.  And Jian Sin has already set his mind to enter university after graduating from SP.

Mr Tan Hang Cheong, Principle of SP, was guest-of-honour at the event, advised all scholars that the scholarship only provided access to a polytechnic.  They have to put in their best to excel in their respective polytechnic course.  He hopes that all IIS Scholars will eventually continue with their scholarship awards for their onward studies at universities.
