21 Jul 2010

Serious game developers can now look forward to more local training courses on Game Development.

A resource centre to facilitate the Games-in-Learning initiative by the Media Development Authority (MDA) will be set up under an agreement Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and MDA.

Using Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio or other suitable platforms, training courses on Game Development for Xbox LIVE Indie Games on Xbox 360 will be conducted by lecturers from the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology (DMIT) at the centre for qualified professionals.

“There is a strong demand for console and online game developers and we are all geared up to produce professionals in this area,” said Ms Georgina Phua, Director for the School of DMIT. The school trains about 40 students in the Game Development option of the Diploma in Information Technology each year.

The first of the training courses will start in August with 20 participants. It will be conducted on a quarterly basis thereafter.
