DIT graduate received Dean’s Commendation for High Achievement from University of Queensland

10 May 2011

Having to obtain a degree was one of my goals in life. The exciting 3 years in Singapore Polytechnic not only broadened my knowledge but also left me with lots of fond memories, especially of the times I spent with the SP Rovers. I joined the Republic of Singapore Air Force immediately after graduating from the Diploma in Information Technology. After working as a pilot with the Republic of Singapore Air Force for 6 years, I finally decided to take a 2 year break to pursue my educational dreams. With my Diploma, I was given 16 credit points, which exempted me from 4 modules, when I joined the UQ programme.

Life in University of Queensland was exciting, fulfilling and enjoying. You ought to learn to be independent, cope with different cultures and learns to work with people from different backgrounds.

Having been away from school for 6 years, it was pretty tough and felt a little lost initially with the new educational system. Syllabus had changed drastically compare with 6 years ago.

With perseverance and determination as well as motivation and endless support from my wife, I managed to adapt to the changes and catch up with the new syllabus within weeks after school term commenced.

Putting continuous effort, time and hard work in revision as well as a keen to learn attitudes, it enables me to achieve the distinguished honour of a Dean’s Commendation for High Achievement.
