Ask Leong Mei Poh (DMAT Graduating class of 2009) what makes her tick as one of the top graduating students at the prestigious Berklee College of Music (USA), only one answer stands out: HARD WORK.
In an environment where nothing but the best is demanded of every student, Mei Poh managed to overcome all odds to top her class and graduate with a Summa cum Laude for the Bachelor of Music in Music Production and Engineering.
This humble and bubbly girl speaks vividly of her journey since graduating from the Diploma in Music and Audio Technology course at SP. In the world where university fees are heading north, Mei Poh's parents pulled out all cards to fulfill their daughter's dreams.
Assimilating to a new culture and country, and mixing around with some of the top creative minds in music proved an uphill challenge. Mei Poh recounts: "You got to manage yourself and your own time as nobody at Berklee is going to bother about you".
With her bubbly nature, Mei Poh wasted no time networking and establishing new friendships. This paved the way for a strong working relationship with many people. It also saw her working in a major record company, Mix One Studios.
"My 3 years at DMAT served as a stepping stone to Berklee and the strong foundation goes a long way.", Mei Poh recalls.
Quizzed about her future after graduation, Mei Poh hopes to be able to find work in the U.S in the field of studio engineering or producer.
