1st August 2012 - This was the day when three teams from the 3rd year cohort of the Diploma in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing Management, emerged as finalists in the SP Business School - Bugis Street Marketing Competition 2012. Bugis Street had generously sponsored $3000 worth of shopping vouchers as prizes to the winners of this competition.
The Marketing Plan Competition provides an opportunity for final year students to apply what they have learnt to an authentic industry environment which enhances their creativity and originality in the creation of a real-world marketing plan. For the very first time, a cross modular approach was adopted where students incorporated all four marketing management option modules in the collaboration.
Mr Ivan Loh, Executive Director from Bugis Street Development Pte. Ltd. was highly impressed with our student’s ability and professionalism in accomplishing so much within such a short time frame. Hwee Sin from the winning team said that the competition had trained her to be highly adaptable to real life situations. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” she remarked.

Group reflection- Joining Singapore Polytechnic, we would have never expected to take part in a client-based competition like the SP Business School- Bugis Street Competition but our course in Business Administration gave us this opportunity. Not only has it broadened our horizons, it has also enriched us with real-life experiences. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would like to thank Mr. Kenneth Lee, our Marketing Management Lecturer and tutor for all the guidance in the Bugis Street Competition.
