In line with the Government’s call for more young people in Singapore to be involved in entrepreneurship, SP Business School (SB) is pleased to present the 16th edition of our Young Entrepreneurship Challenge, YES 2014, in a new format.
Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, has said in a recent speech that entrepreneurs play a vital role in society by keeping our economy vibrant, and making opportunities available to more people. New businesses and small companies are an important pillar of our economic engine. That is why the Government has and will continue to do what it can to make it easier for companies to grow, to invest, and to create more good jobs for Singaporeans.
As such, we are incorporating a new component in YES 2014 whereby the top three teams will be given seed money to implement their creative entrepreneurial business idea. The theme for this year’s competition is therefore – CAN YOU SELL IT?
On the first day of the competition, all students will be briefed on Entrepreneurship and Presentation Skills, as well as Basic Marketing Principles. This is followed by small-group workshops facilitated by our Entrepreneurship students to guide students in brainstorming a creative business idea and formulating a marketing plan.
On the second day of the competition, students will present their business idea and marketing plan to our SB lecturers who will select six finalist teams.
Each of the six finalist teams will be awarded
• $250 gift vouchers,
• a school trophy, and
• an individual trophy for each team member.
The six finalist teams will then present their proposals before a panel of judges comprising industry professionals and business practitioners. The judges will select the top three teams based on the creativity of business idea, the marketing plan and strategies for implementation.
Each of the top three teams will be given $800 cash as seed money to implement their business proposal during the month of July 2014 with guidance from our Entrepreneurship students. After one month, the team with the highest sales will be declared the YES2014 Champion and receive $1,000 cash prize and the YES Challenge Shield.
How many teams can you register?
