Mrs Pamela Wigglesworth, Managing Director of Experiential Pte Ltd, presented a talk on the 27th of Jan 2014, entitled ‘Designing an Interactive Multi-touch Marketing Campaign’ which focused on various marketing strategies and the use of social media to engage consumers. 170 students comprising year 3 students from the Diploma in Business Administration (Marketing Management) option and year 2 students taking Consumer Psychology attended this talk.
Mrs Wigglesworth began her speech with a brief introduction about herself and an insight on her experiences in the business world. The charismatic speaker delivered her speech eloquently, cracking a few jokes to maintain a lively atmosphere. She then went on to share with us a few traditional marketing strategies; personnel selling, trade shows, product placement, sales promotion, direct marketing, interactive media and sponsorship.
With the introduction of social media; a platform has been created to enhance connectivity between consumers and companies. A video was played to illustrate how today’s advertisers are not ‘hanging out in the same places anymore’ as the consumers. Social media is where heavy viewership lies and is a platform for companies to engage consumers, leading them to their website where the actual selling takes place.
Mrs Wigglesworth also explained the life cycle of marketing which is a marketing strategy based on engaged relationships. This enables companies to reach out to the consumers effectively as opposed to the traditional costly marketing strategies.
Willie Lim, a year 2 DBA student, said, “The speaker showed me that she’s very experienced in terms of marketing and she shared with us beneficial tips."
Low Soon Huat, also a year 2 DBA student, added, “She motivated me one day to start a business and be as successful as her!"
