DBID-MND EDGE Scholarship 2014
For the third year, the Ministry of National Development (MND) conferred on SP Diploma in Business Innovation and Design (DBID) students a 3 year scholarship valued at more than $15,000. This scholarship not only covers the full tuition fees for the awardee, but also provides for a book allowance, design thinking bootcamp costs and a two year working stint. This year’s award winner is Evangelle Tan from DBID/FT/1A/01 (2nd from right standing next to Minister Khaw Boon Wan) and below is a short account of her recent experience.
Evangelle Tan from DBID/FT/1A/01 with Minister Khaw Boon Wan
“As I started life as a student in the Diploma of Business Innovation and Design, I wondered how I could use these skills in the future. When the call for applications for the Ministry of National Development (MND) scholarships was made, I realised I could use design thinking in a career with MND - to improve the lives of Singaporeans through urban planning and in working with the various statutory boards under MND. I hope to use my design thinking skills to develop creative and out-of-the-box solutions and to contribute to an innovative culture in MND. Finally, building links between the ageing and youth is my aspiration.”
