Year 1 students from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) visited the Asia Pacific Food Expo on 20 November 2015.
The annual event organised by the Singapore Food Manufacturers Association brought together both local and international Food & Beverage related exhibitors to launch and showcase their products, services and technology to trade and consumer buyers.
As Food & Beverage options become increasingly important in the success of major events, event managers use events such as the Asia Pacific Food Expo to identify the latest products, services and technology available. Likewise, the students who visited the event as part of their out-of-classroom learning for the Food & Beverages module, examined ingredients, did food sampling, viewed cooking demonstrations, tested new equipment and gained relevant health and safety tips.
The students also received a good understanding of the role of government agencies such as Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) & Health Promotion Board (HPB) who were on-site as exhibitors.
