We believe in broadening our DCEB student’s horizon by exposing them to the world and to learn through their senses of seeing and listening. Twenty students, led by a lecturer, embarked on an 8-day study trip to Beijing from 23rd Sept to 1st Oct 2012.
During the trip, the students attended lectures at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) conducted by professors from the BLCU. The lectures were supplemented with visits to various historical and iconic sites. A visit to the Great Wall of China, the “Bird Nest” Olympic stadium, “Water Cube” and the Forbidden City have definitely enhanced our students’ understanding and appreciation of Civil Engineering works.
Besides gaining knowledge of Beijing’s urban planning and appreciating the structural wonders of the past and present, students also developed firm friendships through this memorable trip.
Both DCEB students and lecturers are looking forward to many more overseas trips in the coming years.
