Hwee Peng always knew that she wanted do something that would help people. In Biomedical Sciences, she knew that her interests didn’t lie in chemical experimentations, but physics and mathematics and thus switched to SP’s Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DEEE).
In DEEE, she was accepted into the SP’s Engineering Academy program which allows students to work on multi-disciplinary projects. She enjoys that as she is able to help others as this program involves improving various existing design for future potential users.
She also gives back to the community by being part of an Overseas Community Service Programme in Yunnan, China where they helped raised awareness of proper sanitation and build toilets and waste pits for villagers. She also joined SP’s Learning Express to the Philippines to develop sustainable solutions to help orphans using design thinking tools.
Polytechnic life was initially very hard for a quiet person but with the help of her friendly classmates and joining SP’s Karate Club, she came out of her shell. Today this scholar is the captain of the club while academically achieving a GPA of 3.99!
