What should I do if my Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription is expiring?

If you are receiving prompts from your Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App about expiring subscription, you must let the remaining days become 0 before you can activate another year of usage. When the subscription expires, you will have 30 days of trial period. This trial period allows you to continue Adobe Creative Cloud usage with full features. After the 30 days of trial expires, your Adobe Creative Cloud app will not launch fully. You may activate another year of subscription during and after the trial period. Refer to Chapter 3 of the user guide to redeem another year of subscription.

What should I do if I’m unable to see the software I need in Blackboard ([email protected])?

The software needed for your course of study are listed here. For every software, there are different set of instructions of obtaining the source and steps on their installation. Some of the links will bring you to another Software list in Blackboard ([email protected]). If you are presented with only 7 software instructions (Respondus Lockdown Browser, SPSS, Statgraphics, LABView, Chembiodraw Ultra, Molecular Operating Environment, Cisco Packet Tracker), this could mean your access grouping at Blackboard is not correctly allocated (or not in any group at all). Typically, students are able to browse the entire list of software when go [email protected], My Community, and under My Organizations, Course Specific Software.

There are a few workaround if you are one of the students without groups assignment:

  1. Approach your lecturer / course administrator to get your group assigned correctly. They should have ability to perform such changes in the portal.
  2. Visit any of the SPICE Service Desk Centers (T1711 preferred) to obtain the source and installation instructions. You may be requested to present Student Admission card for identity verification.
  3. Email ServiceDeskMail and request for the installation guide with source URL. For verification purposes, please kindly use your iChat email to request. For security reasons, we will not be sending installation guide with their source to personal email addresses.

SP Mobile App

Where can I find and install SP Mobile App?

The SP Mobile app is meant for Android or Apple mobile devices and can be installed from the following sites:

What can I do with SP Mobile App?

With the SP Mobile app, you can now easily take your attendance with ATS, receive important notifications from library or SAS from SP Alerts, view Timetable of classes, change/reset password with IDMS and so on.

Notebook PC Purchase

What notebook PC should I buy?

You can find the range of notebooks and their specifications in the Specifications & Promotions page of the Notebook PC Corner. Please click HERE to find out the recommended notebook PC(s)/course specific hardware requirements for your course.

SP has appointed vendors to sell notebook PCs at reasonable prices with appropriate warranty and service support. Insurance services are also available.  However, if you are buying or using other brand/model, do ensure that its hardware specifications are at least comparable to that of the model(s) recommended for your course. The system must have at least 80GB of free hard disk space and running Microsoft Windows 7 operating system or later for notebook OR Mac OS 10.5 or later for MacBook.
 

What if I decide to purchase the notebook PC after the SP Notebook Roadshow?

After the Roadshow, you may purchase the notebook PC online via the vendor website indicated in the Notebook PC Corner > Specifications & Promotions page. Vendor will deliver the notebook to you within 15 working days from order receiving date.

The promotional price is valid for one year and includes free home delivery.
 

Can I purchase more than 1 notebook PC?

You can purchase more than 1 notebook PC. However, you can only install SP software (refer to Notebook PC Corner > Software page) on only one of the notebook PC purchased. Except for Microsoft Office, you can install on up to 5 computers via Office 365 portal.
 

What are the modes of payment?

Payment can be paid generally by cash, NETS and cheque. You may refer to the notebook vendors’ flyers/order forms for details.

Should I upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes, and you should upgrade to Windows 10 as the current software provided for your course will work with Windows 10. For more information, please refer to Microsoft FAQ: Upgrade to Windows 10.

Student SPICE Account Management

I have forgotten my SPICE account password, what should I do?

If you have forgotten your password, then you can reset it. The SP IDMS allows you to reset your SPICE account password using any of these methods when you forget it.

  • SingPass
  • Mobile (OTP via SMS)

Why is my account locked?

You may find your account locked if

  • You have tried to login using invalid passwords and exceeded the maximum retries allowed
  • Someone else attempted to use your User ID to log in using invalid passwords

To protect your account against malicious attacks, once your account is locked, you will not be able to log in using your User ID.

Please note that when you change your SPICE account password, please use the new password to connect to SP wireless network for your personal notebook or devices. Otherwise, your devices will use the old password and your account will be locked again.
