More Scholarships and Sponsorships

There are also many other scholarships and sponsorships offered by external organisations. These scholarships/ sponsorships are offered at different times during the academic year and have varying eligibility criteria. (Please check out the respective scholarship/ sponsorship websites to read their terms and conditions carefully).

Important Note:

  • Students must usually be enrolled in a full-time course at the time of application.
  • Scholarships and bursaries are usually awarded for one academic year unless stated otherwise by the donors.
  • Recipients of these scholarships are usually not eligible for another scholarship, bursary, Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) from Yayasan Mendaki or sponsorship by employers.

Scholarships Offered by External Organizations
Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP) &
Tay Eng Soon Scholarship (TESS)
Eligibility: All ITE graduates who have enrolled in a full-time Diploma are eligible for the LKY-STEP and TESS.
Criteria: Singaporean and PR.
Have achieved outstanding results in their ITE courses, i.e. attainment of a GPA score of 3.5 and above.
Possess good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA).
Not in receipt of any bursary/scholarship award (for LKY-STEP).
Not financially sponsored by employers.
Quantum: LKY-STEP
Waiver of Polytechnic tuition fees for the duration of the diploma course and one-time cash quantum of $3,500.

TESS
One-time cash award of $3,000.
BCA-Industry Built Environment Diploma Scholarship/ Sponsorship
Eligibility: New students in their 1st year of studies in Polytechnic.
Enrolled in one of the courses listed here.
Criteria: Excellent academic results.
Excellent CCA records.
Award: Scholarship covers full course fees and $900 monthly allowance. Locals will serve a 1- year bond for every year of Scholarship whereas foreigners will serve a 2-year bond for every year of Scholarship.
Sponsorship covers $7,000 annual allowance which comes with a 1-year bond for every year of Sponsorship.

Home Team Diploma Sponsorship (Polytechnic)
Eligibility: Singapore citizens only.
For students already studying in SP, or new students who have managed to secure a place to study a full-time diploma course in SP.
Criteria: Good GCE 'O' level/ NITEC/ Higher NITEC results and CCA records.
Medically and physically fit.
Quantum: Tuition and compulsory fees sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
A monthly allowance of $1,000 credited into the student's account.
Study bonus of $1,200 per semester if the student passes all modules in that semester.

Upon graduation, award recipients may have a choice of pursuing a career with either the Home Affairs Uniformed Services (HUS) , i.e. Singapore Police Force (SPF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Prison Service and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) or Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

ASMI Scholarship
Eligibility: Full-time students of any nationality, any year of study (1st, 2nd or 3rd year).
Criteria: SP Students pursuing DMR, DEEE or DME.
Quantum: S$5,000 per year.
(The Scholarship comes with a one-year bond for each year of award)
Apply: Submit application form and supporting documents to SSC (T16, Level 1).
Deadline for submission of application form to SSC: Usually in July.
Scholarship interviews will be held in SP in late July.
Details of the interview will be confirmed later.
ASMI Marine Engineering Scholarship
Eligibility: All nationalities.
Criteria: 1st year DMR students only (and DMR as 1st choice of study).
Good GCE ‘O’ level results.
Outstanding CCA records.
Quantum: $2,300 per year for tuition fees.
Allowance of $1,500 for laptop.
Extra allowance of $7,200 per year.
(The Scholarship comes with a three-years bond)
Apply: Submit application form and supporting documents to SSC (T16, Level 1).
Deadline for submission of application form to SSC: Usually in July.
Scholarship interviews will be held in SP in late July.
Details of the interview will be confirmed later.
Ngee Ann Kongsi Scholarship
Eligibility: Singaporeans or PRs.
(from the Teochew Community)
Criteria: Good academic performance.
Quantum: S$4,000 per year.
  (Application usually in June each year)
NTUC FairPrice Scholarship
Eligibility: Singaporeans or PRs.
Criteria: Good academic results and co-curricular activities (CCA) records.
Quantum: $5,000 per year; renewable yearly if the scholar maintains good academic results and conduct records - Student to fulfil Industrial Training Attachments at FairPrice.
The Scholarship comes with a one-year bond for each year of award.

PAP Community Foundation Study Award
Eligibility: Singaporeans.
Criteria: Actively involved in CCAs/ leadership/ community service activities (preferably holding leadership positions in SP, grassroots organisations or self-help groups).
Good academic results.
In need of financial help (* family monthly per capita income MPCI must not exceed $850)

* How to calculate MPCI
(Total monthly gross family income / No. of dependents in the same household)
Quantum: S$2,700 per year.
Apply: Please apply during the SP Donors-sponsored bursaries/ scholarships exercise in April.
Muslimin Trust Fund Association (MTFA) Bursaries and Merit Awards
Eligibility: Muslims under the age of 35 who are Singapore citizens.
Criteria: Household income of the applicant must not exceed $4,000 per month.
How To Apply: Application forms can be obtained at the MTFA Office, Darul Ihsan Orphanage Building, 5 Mattar Road during office hours from April each year.
The forms can also be downloaded from the MTFA website (MTFA Forms).
All completed applications forms must reach the MTFA office by the stipulated deadline indicated on the application form.
