They are known as “We Mobile”. This trio of Diploma in Information Technology students from Singapore Polytechnic (SP)—Raymond Lin, Charlie Kee and Wang Runyu—is also an award-winning widget development team.
The widget (or mini application for mobile phones) the SP students developed for Malaysia Airlines was named one of the winners of first ever Yahoo! Mobile Developer Awards (YMDA).
“We Mobile” was among one of 24 teams from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), SP and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) invited to participate in the competition to design widgets for DBS Bank, Kellogg Asia Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Airlines, and UEEEU.com.

The SP team used Yahoo!’s latest mobile development platform, called Yahoo! Blueprint, to create their widget, which incorporated features to help users with their travel plans and encourage them to travel with Malaysia Airlines.
The results of the competition were announced at a party at Zouk and Velvet Underground. The other winning teams were “Simple” from NTU with a widget for DBS Bank (which also won the “Best in Show” category), “The Jinx” from TP with a widget for Kellogg Asia and “Chlorophyll Studios” from NYP with a widget for UEEEU.com.
