Awards are not just for students

SP's annual Excellence Awards Ceremony always sees its outstanding students honoured. This year, it's not just celebrating the achievements of the 67 students and 5 groups, but also club advisors who have provided good guidance and advice.

One failed badly in her primary school exams. Yet after sheer hard work and determination, she pushed herself through and graduated with a Diploma in Property Development & Facilities Management.

Along the way, Christina Ong also became a National fencing champion, vice-president of the Rotary International Service and managed to be on the Director's Honour Roll for 2 consecutive years.

Another represented SP in Floorball and Hockey competitions, is a qualified Football Association of Singapore referee, won numerous singing contests in SP and was also one of the leads in SP's first full-scale musical.

Oh, and Mohammad Faliq Rais also graduated with a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering, scoring 10 distinctions and 16As out of 38 subjects.

Outstanding students

Both Christina and Faliq were just two of the 67 students and 5 groups whom SP honoured at its annual Excellence Awards Ceremony on Wednesday.

Three types of excellence awards were given to students - the Model Student Award, the Excellence in Service Award and the Sports Award.

The Model Student Award recognises students for academic excellence, CCA achievements, outstanding leadership and exemplary conduct.

Thirteen students will be receiving this award. In addition, 28 students and 5 student groups receiving the Excellence in Service Awards for their contributions in the areas of arts & culture, campus vibrancy, community service and sports activities.

Twenty-six sportspersons also received the sports award for doing well in their respective sports. These students and student groups have excelled in their chosen CCAs and contributed significantly to our campus vibrancy.

Many of these awardees have also brought honour to SP by winning awards in community-based and national events.
