A group of third year students from the School of Media and Info-Communications Technology (SMIT) beat out competition from other local institutes to clinch the first prize in the Tertiary Student Category during the Singapore League of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards.
The distinguished APICTA Awards is an international award that aims to increase ICT awareness and to promote ICT innovations in the Asia Pacific region.
Zhao Dan Yao, Chua Shan Yi, Tay Qian Ling, Shawn Tan, Clemens Khoo and Md Faidhi Bin Yusmal Hassan, who are from the Diploma in Digital Media course, submitted their final year project for the award consideration and were rewarded with an unexpected win.
Their prize-winning project is an original interactive film which integrates digital video with interactive elements. During the film, viewers will be presented with a series of options about the film's plot. Their decisions will affect how the story branches and unfolds and ultimately determine how the film pans out.
As the winners of the Singapore League, the students will go on to represent our country in the International APICTA Awards in November. To prepare themselves for the upcoming competition, the team will be undergoing training and coaching sessions under the guidance of their lecturer Jeanine Lim.
We wish them all the best in the competition!
