Singapore Polytechnic is going all out to show support for our nation's bid to host the Youth Olympics in 2010.
At the first-ever Global Cultural Festival held on 1 December 2007, SP students, staff, families and friends were invited to pledge their support for Singapore's bid of the Youth Olympic Games 2010 by leaving their hand prints or signatures on the "Hands Up for Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010" boards.
The guest-of-honour of the evening, Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Teo Ser Luck, also placed his well wishes on one of the 10-metre long boards.
After the signing, the thousand-strong audience were treated to a "world tour" of artistic talents, starting from South East Asia where the SP Symphonic Band and the Angklung/ Kulintang Ensemble performed. The tour then moved on to North and South America and lastly returned back to Asia where the audience had a feast on an array of exotic dances such as the Belly Dance, Bhangra Dance and the Mongolian Dance. The evening ended on high notes with a Brazilian Percussion fusion number performed by SP's students and musicians from OneHeartBeat.
If you missed out on your chance to leave your imprint on the banner, fret not. The banner board will make another appearance at the SP Sports Day on 5th December 2007 at the Sports Complex from 3.00pm to 6.00pm.
Thereafter, it will be placed at various prominent locations around SP.
