SP team, comprising students from the DICT course, wins National Infocomm Competition Quiz

School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (SEEE) students from the Diploma in Information Communication Technology (DICT) course emerges champions in the National Infocomm Competition- Quiz held on Saturday 10 Feb 2007. This competition was organised by the Singapore Science Centre and IDA.

The students, Thong Qian Mu Timothy, Ng Yong Bin, Yeo Jie Shun and Teo Ee Siang Lionel, , together with another SP team from the Diploma in Information Technology (DIT), eliminated their competitors from the other polytechnicsto make it to round two.

In round two, both SP teams and a team from another polytechnic were competing for the gold. The teams were fired with questions, ranging from Digital media, Internet technologies and history, networking and security, mobile/wireless communication, and programming concepts. If the team did not answer, or gave the wrong answer upon pressing the buzzer, one member from the team would be eliminated.

The final moments of the competition were some of the most thrilling. With two questions remaining, the DICT team was behind their competitor by one point. The DICT team was left with two players while the other two teams were left with one player. The DICT team stood up to the pressure and answered the last two questions correctly to win by one point.

The final results were:

Gold – Singapore Polytechnic, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, (DICT)
Silver – Ngee Ann Polytechnic
Bronze - Singapore Polytechnic, School of Media and Infocomm Technology (DIT)
