2016 Highlights

Congratulations to DFST Year 2 students (from left) Mak Wai Ming and Sean Goh Yong Yie for receiving the prestigious 2016 A*Star Science Award (Polytechnic).
SP DFST has been re-accredited by IUFoST. This accreditation is a testimony of DFST’s quality and its place in the training of food scientists and technologists who are world ready.

Four DFST Year 3 students attended the IUFoST 18th World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Dublin, Ireland. They participated in the Food Science Students Fighting Hunger Competition.

Seah Xin Hui (Class of 2016) has been awarded the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Scholarship.
She will further her study in the SIT-Massey University Joint Degree programme in Food Technology.

Congratulation to Tey Angel (Class of 2016) (left) for receiving the Ministry of Health (MOH) Healthcare Merit Award!
Angel will be reading Dietetics at the University of Flinders, Australia.

Congratulation to Pang Ming-Li Ashleigh (Class of 2015) for receiving the Ministry of Health (MOH) Healthcare Merit Award!
Ashleigh is pursuing her Nursing degree in NUS.

2015 Highlights

34 DFST and DHNW students visited farms and factories of CP Group as well as a local university to learn more about food processing and food safety during their 12-day overseas immersion programme (OIP) to Thailand.

Eight DFST graduates enter the inaugural Earn and Learn Programme for Food Manufacturing starting in May 2015. For the first time ever, this programme allows SP students to work at companies while learning new skills and knowledge. Students will graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Applied Food Science awarded by SP at the end of 18 months.

DFST Year 3 student, Khiu Ke Jun, won the first prize for the polytechnic sector in SIFST Student Symposium 2015. His project title was 'Investigating the inhibitory effect of phenolic acids on the formation of PhIP in chicken breast meat'.

Seventeen DFST students joined in to create awareness of water usage in food production. A total of five posters on virtual water footprint of orange juice, sausage, baguette, noodle and cake were presented to the public.

2014 Highlights

Sim Hui Min Yvette (Class of 2014) received a Healthcare Merit Scholarship award from the Ministry of Health on 30 July 2014. She will be reading Dietetics at the University of Flinders, Australia.

Elaine Yeow Yee Ling, DFST Year 3 student, was awarded with the Arts & Music scholarship on 9 July 2014.

Congratulation to DFST Year 3 students (from left) - Nur Syakirah Binti Musa, Teo Wan Ling and Nurul Afiqah Binte Mohd Fammy for winning Best Poster Award at the Young Scientists’ Symposium 2014!

Three DFST Year 3 students (from right) - Kelsey Caro Oh Wei Ting, Teo Wan Ling and Gerald Lye Kai En, were presented with SPRING SME Talent Programme awards on 14 February 2014.
Under this programme, SPRING/ companies will sponsor their tuition in year 2 and year 3. Upon graduation, they will join the SME to learn more about the food industry.
