Our students join Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DCHE) in Singapore Polytechnic (SP) because they want a highly regarded course that provides them with a holistic education. To us, providing a holistic education is equivalent to developing Emotional, Social, Physical and Intellectual (ESPI) aspects of our students through a rigorous yet innovative academic curriculum, which is also balanced with fun yet enriching non-academic activities.

Our students go through a three-year rigorous curriculum that is taught using innovative and stimulating pedagogies such as Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) and Design Thinking. You can find out more about our curriculum under What You’ll Study.

In addition, we have a total of six laboratories, all of which are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.



Our students are exposed to a wide variety of hands-on practicals ranging from operating classical chemical engineering unit operations such as distillation column to applying chemical engineering sciences in designing chemical products such as the perfect gummies. Read more.


All our second year students will go to Chemical Process Technology Centre (CPTC), Jurong Island for a six-week internship programme. Upon completion of the CPTC internship programme, our students are awarded a Certificate on Chemical Process Operation Training for Diploma Level that recognises them to be work competent for chemical processing industry. Emotional and Social Development

We place equal emphasis on our students’ emotional and social development. Besides the annual DCHE Sports Challenge, DCHE Student Chapter has organised various activities such as BBQ Bonding Session, DCHExposed, Excel Day, Welcome Amigoes, Metta Home Visit, F&N Coca Cola Plant Visit, Meiji Seika Plant Visit and many more. We even have our own DCHE T-shirts and yearly publication of our graduation magazine, Foveo.

Our students plus teaching faculty are also active on overseas community service projects. In 2010, one project lead use to Yangon, Myanmar in aid of cyclone-struck villagers. The Myanmar project involved designing and building water filtration and sanitation systems for the villagers, as well as developing a hygiene program for local school children. In 2011, we went to Huairou, China, reaching out to kindergarten children through developing media resources and facilities. In 2012, we embarked on a trip to Shree Janakalyan Lower Secondary School in Nepal. Our students went extra miles to serve the Nepalese community by refurbishing school library and table tennis facilities, constructing a classroom and implementing a rainwater harvesting system.
