Doors to ‘HELL’oween

Downtown East has been organising family-oriented Halloween events over the past decade. The recent “Doors to ‘HELL’oween” was unique because it had more attractions as compared to the previous years.

Six students from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management planned and organised the marketing of one of the attractions, The Terror Maze, which was held in the D’Marquee. The maze featured more than 10 scary trails revolving around renowned horror films such as Silent Hill and Pan’s Labyrinth, attracted more than 2,000 attendees over the five days. They were also treated to fringe activities such as make-up and photo booths. Some key marketing activities included spreading awareness of the Terror Maze through platforms such as social media. In addition, the students roved around classes in the School of Architecture & the Built Environment to sell tickets and sourced for volunteers. They also collaborated with well-known bloggers such as Catherine Jaevans and Youtubers (Urban Extreme Monkeys) to increase publicity.

During the event, the students assisted in handling the operation in the maze to facilitate a smooth flow of the attendees entering and exiting. They also helped sell tickets for the carnival, conducted post-event interviews and surveys, and man the fringe activities.
