CoC Class 1 & 2 Marine Engineer Officer (Part B) |
| COURSE AIMS |
The Combined Class 2 & 1 Engineer Officers course will lead to the issue of Class 2 & 1 Certificate of Competency (CoC), issued by the Maritime & Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, upon successful completion of written examinations at SMA and oral examinations at MPA. |

| RECOGNITION |
Course meets the requirements of STCW 95 Convention of IMO. |
| COURSE COMMENCEMENT |
The April 2013 Intake is full and registration is closed.
Registration for the October 2013 Intake will commence on 03 June 2013.

| COURSE FEE |
Main course fees: S$7,800 + 7% GST* = SGD $8,346.00 /-
This will cover the main course and two written examinations
Candidates need to pay for following mandatory and other courses:
- Medical Care Onboard (Fees: S$285 + 7% GST)*
- Advanced Fire-Fighting (Fees: S$550 + 7% GST)* **
- Shipboard Training and Assessment Course (Fees: S$600 + 7% GST)*
- CoC 1 & 2 Part A (Fees: S$930+ 7% GST )*, if not exempted
* Singapore Dollar
** All candidates who completed this course Class 5 Engineer CoC level will be exempted. |
| ORAL EXAMINATION & FEES |
To be conducted at Shipping Division, MPA Fees: S$175/-* Singapore Dollar |
| SEA SERVICE REQUIREMENTS |
18 months from Class 5 or watch keeping level to Class 2 and another 18 months from Class 2 to Class 1.For confirmation on sufficiency of sea- service, candidates are advised to apply for the letter of eligibility online(MPA Website E-Services Page) from the link below:

Candidates must successfully complete following modules at Part B Level at SMA:
MA3016 Internal Combustion Engines & Boilers MA3017 Auxiliary Machinery MA3018 Electro-technology & Electronics MA3019 Electrical Engineering MA3020 Control Engineering MA3021 Safe Maintenance Operation & Fault Diagnostics MA3022 Ship Construction & Naval Architecture MA3023 Maritime Law & Personnel Management
Candidates must complete following modules at Part A Level at SMA, if not exempted by MPA, Singapore

| ENROLMENT |
Candidates need to forward a copy of current CoC, relevant pages of passport, and postal address together with application letter. We will post our application form along with other relevant information.
All original certificates (including short courses) and sea service records must be produced during enrolment for verification. Enrolment will commence 1 week before the start of the course. |
| VISA REQUIREMENTS |
Candidates from countries, as per website http://app.ica.gov.sg or attached list, are advised to obtain single entry visa for Singapore. SMA will assist in obtaining student visa upon enrolment. |
| BOARDING & LODGING |
Singapore Polytechnic does not maintain hostel facilities. Private apartments are available in the vicinity of the campus and rooms are rented out at about S$400.00 per month based on twin-sharing. Daily expenses are estimated at about S$10.00 per day. |
| MEDICAL INSURANCE |
Candidates are advised to take up medical insurance during their stay in Singapore. Cost: about S$50.00 |

VISA FOR SPOUSE AND CHILDREN
|
SMA will assist in visa application for candidates' spouse and children upon submission of air ticket and medical insurance for spouse & children. |
