COURSE AIMS The aim of the course is to prepare the candidate for COC Class 1 Orals examination.
SCHEDULE 2009:  6th July to 31st July , 3rd Aug to 28th Aug , 19th Oct to 13th Nov ,  16th Nov to 4th Dec 
2010:  4th Jan to 29th Jan, 1st Feb to 26th Feb
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Candidates must have completed their Class 2 & 1 Deck written examinations conducted by Singapore Polytechnic (approved by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore), be in possession of the Class 2 Certificate of Competency Deck (approved by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore), meet the sea service requirements of the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore for the issue of the Class 1 CoC Deck.
COURSE CONTENTS/MODULES Module 1 Ship Handling  Simulator
Module 2 Oral Assessment support.
COURSE FEES S$ 1400 + 7% GST = $1498

A - Online Registration

[1] Fill up the electronic form.  For international student, please ensure your Name, date of birth,  
      gender and nationality are key in correctly as appear in your travel document to facilitate  
      visa/student pass application.
[2] Once completed, click on the Submit button 
[3] You will receive online acknowledgement that you have successfully submitted the registration 
[4] Singapore Polytechnic will then register and enrol upon payment of the fees.

Please note that once the maximum class size is reached, the online registration will be closed.

B – International Student

Students should be prepared to stay in Singapore for at least 3 months.  

C – Visa / Student Pass Application for International Student

Singapore Polytechnic will be applying the student pass for you via Student Pass On-Line Application & Registration (SOLAR) system administered by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). For candidates from countries which require a visa to enter Singapore (details can be found at the ICA web site at, we will also be applying the visa cum student pass for you via the SOLAR system. 

Please note that your enrolment to the course is conditional upon ICA approving your application for an entry visa AND student pass.
All completion of formalities is strictly by appointment only. Student is to make an e-appointment via ICA website at before going down to ICA. Please refer to the ICA website for more details:

D – Insurance 
Candidates are required to carry an overseas travel and medical insurance during their stay in Singapore.

Course fees can be paid by the following payment modes:
a)    For e-payment using Visa/Master cards, please click on the ‘Make ePayment’ button on the acknowledgement page to proceed.

Please note that an administrative charge of $15 will be imposed for any returned cheques from the bank or financial institution.

2.    All successful applicants will be notified with a letter of confirmation via email.

3.    Withdrawal and Deferment

Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy via email to For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

• 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
• Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
• On or after date of commencement - No refund
The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.

The data provided to Singapore Polytechnic will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for the purpose of course administration. The data may be passed on to the relevant organisations that require the information related to the course.

Visa Requirements
Candidates from countries, as per website or attached list are advised to obtain single entry visa for Singapore.
SMA will assist in obtaining a student visa only upon enrolment.
Attire during Training For Navigation Bridge Simulator Classes students must be dressed in a white shirt, black pants and black shoes. Students who do not comply with the dress code will not be allowed into the Navigation Simulator.
Additional Information Students should be prepared to stay in Singapore for at least 3 months .
