Three Diploma in Food Science & Technology (DFST) students and a lecturer travelled to Baan Nong Kheetun village, in the province of Buriram, Thailand to conduct co-creation sessions with the villagers from 24th to 28th March 2013. This is a follow-up session of the user empathy study done in June 2012 during the Friendship Express (FX) trip.
With the aim to promote self-sufficiency and to improve the livelihood of the villagers, a few rice and tapioca recipes were shared with the villagers. Feedback was obtained and iteration of the recipes will be carried out in Singapore before the next trip.
“It is not often that such opportunities are given to students to get out of their comfort zones and experience such collaborations and trips abroad. Through FX, I learnt about different lifestyles of the villages, the concept of self-sufficiency and expose myself to many things which are not seen or commonly felt in Singapore. It was a truly memorable experience and I am thankful for the chance to go on this trip.”
