The Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management is a three-year full-time course. The aim of this course is to meet the needs of a rapidly growing events management industry.
Singapore has been ranked, in 2005, as the second most popular Convention City in the world having hosted 125 international events/conventions which grossed S$3.24 billion in revenue.
The Singapore Tourism Board has recognised Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions, (MICE), as a key area in the promotion of Singapore as a tourist/business travel destination. It has publicly committed itself to working with industry to build up a robust pipeline of arts, leisure and business events, to maintain Singapore s leadership position as a top destination, by an aggressive marketing & publicity campaign and by giving a host of new incentives to this sector. Space for MICE is also expected to double to 2.75 million square feet in the next few years. This includes the construction of the 2 integrated resorts (IRs).
Events management, ranging from small corporate events to large international MICE such as the recent IMF-World Bank Meeting etc. is thus a growing sector of the economy. This sector needs to be supported by properly trained manpower to succeed.
In view of the diverse range of events and of the skills required, students will be trained with a combination of soft business management skills and technical skills. These include event creation and branding, event marketing and promotion, logistics, public relations, materials, costing and budgeting, light & sound systems, procurement, events & project management etc.
The Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management course also equips students with good analytical, thinking, problem-solving & life-long learning skills, creative thinking ability, communication skills and the right work ethics & values. In addition, it emphasises on training students with good IT application skills for industry specific requirements.
