Overview

Diploma in Landscape Architecture is a three-year full-time programme that aims to train designers to be competent in the theory and practice in landscape design. It is a practice oriented project based training with broad-based curriculum to prepare students for the knowledge-based economy. The students will be offered core and general elective modules. The main core modules are mainly year-long and 100% in course assessment.

 

The programme is delivered through series of lectures, field trips, tutorials, case studies, hands on activities and studio based discussion and consultations, with personalised guidance to facilitate students to develop good understanding and competence in applying the knowledge of landscape design history & theory, horticulture, landscape technologies, environmental systems & processes, urban society and landscape management practice into integrated studio projects.

 

The training will develop students with the skills for effective communication using CADD and manual techniques. Students will be exposed to experiential learning through the processes in design conceptualisation, development, documentation and presentation to market their design idea which will develop creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in them . Written tests, report & paper submissions and critique sessions are used to assess students' learning.

 

Graduates from the Diploma in Landscape Architecture will be competent in Landscape Design Communication, Drawing Documentation, Detailing and Design Presentation. They will be able to prepare landform drawings, landscape specification, landscape project cost estimates and all tender documents. They will also have the understanding of the URA Concept Plan and Development and the Singapore Green Plan 2012 and statutory requirements related to landscape design practice. They will also have an understanding of the global practice in landscape architecture.
