The course entry criteria varies depending on the qualifications you possess. To find out about the entry criteria relevant to your qualification, please select from the country list below:

Please note that Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore. SP may consider conducting the Entrance Test in Myanmar and China if we have a sizeable number of candidates who are eligible for Entrance test.

Country Minimum Qualifications

India

Secondary School Certificate (Year 10) or Senior School Certificate (Year 12)

Completed Year 10 with Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Minimum B1 (> 70%) for English
  • Minimum A2 (> 80%) for Mathematics
  • Minimum A2 (> 80%) for relevant subject
  • Minimum B1 (> 70%) for 2 other subjects
Completed Year 10 from other State Boards
  • Minimum 80% for English
  • Minimum 90% for Mathematics
  • Minimum 90% for relevant subject

Indonesia

SMA Ujian Akhir Nasional (UAN) / STTB SMA or SMA / SMU Ebtanas

Completed Year 12 of Senior High School with

  • Minimum score of 6 for English
  • Minimum score of 7 for Mathematics
  • Minimum score of 7 for relevant subject
  • Minimum overall score based on 6 subjects should be at least 40 (SMA UAN) / Minimum overall score based on 7 subjects should be at least 46 (SMA / SMU Ebtanas)

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be required to sit for an Entrance Test in English (written), Mathematics and Science. The Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore.

Malaysia

Myanmar

Basic Education High School (BEHS)

  • Minimum 60% for English
  • Minimum 75% for Mathematics
  • Minimum 75% for the relevant subject
  • Minimum 60% for 2 other subjects
  • Minimum overall score of 70% for 5 subjects

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be required to sit for an Entrance Test in English (written), Mathematics and Science. The Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore.

People's Republic of China

Year 2014 'Gaokao' or National College Entrance Examination (NCEE)

Application is open to students holding the 2014 NCEE Results.

  • Meet 2014 Tier 2 China University admission cut-off points
  • Minimum 60% for English
  • Minimum 60% for Mathematics
  • Minimum 60% for the relevant subject (Combined Science / Combined Arts)
  • Minimum 60% for 2 other subjects (1 subject if NCEE has only 4 subjects)

NCEE students from the Arts Stream and students who did not take the relevant Science subject in NCEE would not be eligible for Engineering / Technology courses.

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be required to sit for an Entrance Test in English (written and oral), Mathematics and Science. The Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore.

Singapore

GCSE / IGCSE / GCE (non S'pore-Cambridge) from a Singapore mainstream school

For entry requirements, please refer to the individual course pages: Full-time Courses. A 'B' average overall would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application.
Note:
IGCSE / GCSE Grades A to C is comparable to GCE 'O' levels Grades 1 to 6 and IGCSE / GCSE Grade D is comparable to GCE 'O' Grade 7.

Singapore

Integrated Programmes (including IB programmes in a Singapore mainstream school)

Students from Integrated Programme (IP) Schools in Singapore who have completed the equivalent of Sec 4 as well as those who have graduated from IP schools can be considered for admission. Eligibility is similar to GCE 'O' level (please refer to Full-time Courses). Eligible candidates will be assessed based on their school performance, recommendations, tests and / or interviews.

For those who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma, the entry requirements are

  • Minimum Grade 4 for English (1st Lang) except for Creative Writing for Television and New Media and Media and Communication courses where a Grade 5 (1st Lang) is required
  • Minimum Grade 5 for Mathematics
  • Minimum Grade 5 for relevant subject
  • Overall Aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Mathematics and relevant subject).

Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (O.L.) Examination

  • Minimum 60% for English
  • Minimum 75% for Mathematics
  • Minimum 75% for the relevant subject
  • Minimum 60% for 2 other subjects
  • Minimum overall score of 70% (Grade B average) for 5 subjects

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be required to sit for an Entrance Test in English (written), Mathematics and Science. The Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore.

Thailand

Maw 6

  • Minimum Grade Point of 2.0 (60%) for English
  • Minimum Grade Point of 3.0 (70%) for Mathematics

  • Minimum Grade Point of 2.0 (60%) for 2 other subjects
  • Overall Grade Point of 3.0 (70% / Good) for 5 subjects

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be required to sit for an Entrance Test in English (written), Mathematics and Science. The Entrance Test will be conducted in Singapore.

Vietnam

Year 12 High School Graduation Certificate of National Examination

  • Minimum score of 6 for English

  • Overall average score of 7 for 5 subjects

Other qualifications will be assessed based on its equivalence to the GCE 'O' Level examinations

Shortlisted candidates will be required to take entrance tests in English, Mathematics and Science for consideration of entry into 3-year diploma courses.

Notes:

  • For enquiries, please email to admissions@sp.edu.sg.
  • The polytechnic reserves the right to amend the information provided without prior notice. Those residing overseas offered entrance tests in Singapore have to make their own visa or other arrangements here and back to their home country if they wish to sit for the test. The above closing dates still apply.
  • Meeting the minimum entry requirements is not a guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted or selected. Shortlisting / selection will depend on competition for limited course vacancies in the year of application.
  • Those offering GCE / GCSE / IGCSE qualifications will be assessed fully on this qualification and no entrance tests will apply. It cannot be used in combination with any other qualification for entrance test subject exemption.
  • SATI (minimum score: Critical Reading / Verbal 560, Math 600) and SATII (Physics / Chemistry minimum score: 600) can be offered in support of application. The applicant must request College Board to send a copy directly to Singapore Polytechnic (Singapore Polytechnic's code is 5648).
  • An applicant is deemed to have attained a sufficient level of Proficiency in the English Language if he / she attains a TOEFL score of 550 [paper-based], 213 [computer-based] or 79 [internet-based], or IELTS (International English Language Testing System - overall minimum 6.0; for China qualifications 6.0 is also required for reading and speaking components), or passes our English Language entrance test. Our English entrance test is only offered to selected / shortlisted applicants. Please also note that TOEFL scores must be received directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service) otherwise it will not be considered. (The code for Singapore Polytechnic: 8510).
  • Interested applicants may complete the electronic application form (E-Form) and submit the required supporting documents. Should the qualifications be printed in a language other than English, please provide an English translation.
