The SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme is a work-study programme designed to give fresh full-time Diploma graduates from one of the 5 polytechnics in Singapore a head-start in careers related to their discipline of study. It provides them with more opportunities, after graduation, to build on the skills and knowledge they acquired in school, and better supports their transition into the workforce.
Who is it for?
The SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme is for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are Fresh full-time Diploma graduates from one of the five polytechnics in Singapore.

How does it work?
You will be matched with a job related to your discipline of study and undergo a 18 months structured training programme, depending on the sector and job requirements. The programme includes facilitated learning, on-the-job training and work-based projects, to allow you to deepen your skill sets at the workplace. Assigned mentors at the company will guide you and provide support in your continual skills development. You will also enjoy a well-structured career progression pathway, in line with the company’s talent development plan. At the end of the programme, you will receive an industry-recognised certification.
The Advanced Diploma in Applied Food Science (AFS) is an 18-month SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme where trainees go through classroom facilitation and On-the-Job Training (OJT) to deepen relevant occupational and industry skills. Fresh polytechnic graduates from relevant courses will be employed by participating companies in the food industry as full-time employees while studying part-time through classroom facilitation in Singapore Polytechnic.
This course aims to deepen the existing knowledge and skills of fresh polytechnic graduates in the areas of Food Product Innovation, Food Processing and Food Safety & Quality Management. Relevant technical skills are deepened through structured OJT aligned to the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) competency framework where trainees will be assigned to a mentor in the company to be trained in different areas. Trainees will gain knowledge and skills through facilitated case studies and capstone project which helps to enhance occupational and personal competencies for better career progression in the industry.
*Fresh polytechnic graduate is defined as:
Any graduate whose graduation date is within 1 year before the programme start date (i.e. between 20 April 2014 to 20 April 2015) with no relevant work experience. For NSFs who wish to apply for this programme, their ORD date must also be within 1 year before the programme start date.
Fresh full-time polytechnic graduates from the relevant fields who wish to deepen their technical skills in the food industry via on-the-job training (OJT) at participating food companies as full time employees in parallel with classroom learning and facilitation at Singapore Polytechnic.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Application for this programme is open to Fresh full-time polytechnic graduates who are ready to embark on the Earn and Learn Programme and is strictly by invitation only.
Fresh polytechnic graduates with a Diploma in Food Science and Technology or equivalent; Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
Only Singaporean will be eligible for Sign-on Incentive of SGD$5,000.
Applicants must be Singaporeans or Permanent Residents of Singapore.
The curriculum is divided into 3 themes:
1) Food Product Innovation
2) Food Processing
3) Food Safety and Quality Management
Trainees have to complete all 9 modules within 3 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs) and a Capstone Project. Upon completion of the PDCs including the capstone project and fulfilment of the skills competency through On-the-Job Training, trainees will be awarded with an Advanced Diploma in Applied Food Science

All participants are required to attend facilitated classroom training on Fridays from 9am to 5:30pm.
Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of three Certificates within an eighteen months validity period, the participant will be conferred an Advanced Diploma in Applied Food Science qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.
