What is this application about?

This application is open to individuals who are interested to obtain Certificate of Competency (equivalent to a license) after successfully completing the prescribed 1st Grade Steam Engineer modules/examinations.

 


Application Criteria

1. Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
2. Applicant must have attained Certificate in Competency 2nd Grade Steam Engineer for at least 12 months
3. Applicant must have successful completed all prescribed 1st Grade Steam Engineer modules/examinations
4. Applicant must have at least 24 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler whose heating surface is at least 200 square metres.


Required Documents

Upon completing your online registration, please submit the following required documents in PDF only to [email protected] and indicate your Registration No. and Name:

1. Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides)
2. Copy of Local Polytechnic Engineering Diploma or Engineering Degree, together with all transcripts, recognised by the Professional Engineers Board Singapore at http://app.peb.gov.sg/Html/pe_approved.html
3. Copy of Class 1 Boiler Attendant's Certificate of Competency for other Diploma, Non-Diploma and Non-Degree holders
4. Copy of Certificate in Competency 2nd Grade Steam Engineer
5. Copies of all attained certificates / COP awarded by Singapore Polytechnic for 1st Grade Steam Engineer
6. Employer Testimonials stating 24 months relevant working experience assisting in operational charge of a steam engine or steam boiler whose heating surface is at least 200 square metres. Please download the form here.

Note:

  • Applications without ALL the above required documents will be considered incomplete and rejected. Singapore Polytechnic regrets that we will not be able to inform applicants of the incomplete documentation.
  • Complete applications will be processed within 4-6 weeks and you will be notified on the application outcome status via email.

Fees

Application fee is $300.00 (subject to GST) – non-refundable.

Please note that the application fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome status.


Application Procedure

Applicants may apply for the Certificate of Competency (equivalent to a license) via “Click here to register” on the right panel of the webpage. Upon completing your online registration, please submit the following required documents in PDF only to [email protected] and indicate your Registration No. and Name:

1. Copy of NRIC/Work Pass (both sides)

Withdrawal and Deferment

Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy via email to [email protected]. For withdrawal cases, the portion of application fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged.
