Virtual Reality and 360 degrees filmmaking is fast becoming an integral part across industries, especially of the Media Industry. Introduction to VR 360 Filmmaking short course is a comprehensive 2-day workshop that empowers participants with the tools, knowledge and skills required to create their own live action immersive experiences using their phones and affordable tools.
Throughout the course, the instructor will provide a clear and precise explanation of the 360˚ filmmaking process and application; from pre-production to distribution. The content of the course includes terminology, theory, conceptualisation, production and post-production. This workshop is designed to offer an immersive, and hands on approach to learning this new medium.
By the end of the course, attendees should identify the differences between VR 360 and regular filmmaking. They would have experienced generating ideas for short VR content and turning them into a short film.
This is a 16 hours (2-days) course that covers the essentials of VR360 filmmaking using a mobile phone.
Day 1 consists of a theoretical introduction followed by ideation.
Day 2 will be followed up with putting those ideas into execution.
Ellie Ngim was a nominated Directing Fellow in the prestigious Busan Asian Film Academy 2015, an educational program hosted by the Busan International Film Festival. Past mentors of the program include Wang Xiaoshuai, Béla Tarr, Jia Zhangke, Hou Hsiao Hsien and Anthony Chen. Ellie’s journey in Media started in 2010 and her work has been screened in more than 6 international film festivals. She is currently a Director in Bert Pictures and BeVRR, and has shot for clients locally and overseas. She has also recently completed her first Feature length movie, titled ‘Uplift’ after successfully launching the first 360 VR lifestyle series, ‘Dining Stars’ during the Asian TV Festival in Singapore.
Lee Cheng Hui has over 30 years of experience in the Technical and Camera department in the Media industry. Lee is also a certified camera operator for aerial shoots and his more notable works include helming the camera as a cinematographer for SKII, community Chest and Changi airport.

Basic understanding and experience with traditional video workflow is useful but not mandatory. Participants should bring a smartphone to review 360˚material during classes.

SkillsFuture Credit (SFC)
With effect from January 2016, Singaporeans aged 25 years and above who received their SkillsFuture Credit account activation letter will be eligible for an initial credit of $500 which can be used to pay for course fees for a range of eligible skills-related courses. The credits can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies/funding.
This is only applicable for self-sponsored applicants. Application via SkillsFuture Portal can only be made starting from 60 days before the course commencement date.

3. Withdrawal and Deferment
Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy, Singapore Polytechnic via email accordingly:

For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:
- 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
- Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
- On or after date of commencement - No refund
- There will be no refund or transfer of course once the account has been created.
The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.
The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.
The data provided to Singapore Polytechnic will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for the purpose of course administration. The data may be passed on to the relevant organisations that require the information related to the course.
