What this course is about

 

The WSQ Diploma in Freight & Transportation Services aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the functions and activities of sea, air freight and land transportation. It covers technology, process, vessel and equipment types and documentation aspects of managing international transport and distribution of goods. The course takes on an interactive hands-on approach to learning with emphasis on analysis using Excel and presentation skills.

This WSQ diploma consists of 5 core modules covering teamwork, supply chain operations, purchasing, quality systems and project management. It also has 5 freight specializations covering Air & Sea Freight operations, multi-modal management, route planning and customs compliance.

Suitable for

This course aims to train participants for logistics industry. The curriculum is designed with a good blending of theory and industry practice for roles such as Buyer, Material Planner, Distribution and Freight Forwarders, Warehouse Management Coordinators or Supervisor, Project Planners and Coordinators.
 
WSQ Freight & Transportation Services graduates can apply for Ngee Ann Poly Diploma in Business Practice (International Supply Chain).

*No deferment of modules is allowed. All participants are to complete the programme within the registered time period.


 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge


Participants are assumed to have the following:


• Basic logistics skills
• Basic computers skills
• Basic Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point skills
 

Matured adults without formal education but who are presently working in the logistics industry can be considered for this course.
Applicants may be followed up with phone interview to assess their suitability for the course


 

Funding Incentives

 

Instalment plan is available for Individual applicant. This allows you to pay per module.

 

Corporate applicant is make full subsidized course fee within 14 days from the invoice date.

The total course fee for the 10 modules of WSQ Diploma in Warehouse Services (10 modules) is $8000.00 (excluding GST).

After 50% Baseline Funding, one module fee $400.00 + $56.00 (7% GST) = $456.00

Enhanced Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme
 
With effect from 1 July 2013, if you are a Singapore citizen aged 35 years or over, have a monthly income of not more than $1,900, you can enjoy 95% subsidy of your course fee for a wider range of courses covering all Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ ) courses, Academic Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE), as well as Certifiable Skills Training courses accredited or supported by the SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). You may also be eligible for a training allowance* if you sign up for any WTS qualifying courses on your own without the support of your employer and successfully complete it. In addition, you may receive cash awards* for completing training.

Additional subsidies:

  • PSEA - If you have funds in your PSEA account (for Singaporeans born after 1987 and below 30 years old), you can use it to cover the balance after the 50% subsidy.

 

Participants have to meet minimum 75% attendance and attain competency in the module. If the 75% attendance and/or competency criteria are not met, participants will have to pay the subsidy amount to Singapore Polytechnic.

 

Additional subsidies:

  • PSEA - If you have funds in your PSEA account (for Singaporeans born after 1987 and below 30 years old), you can use it to cover the balance after the 50% subsidy.
  • Workfare Training Support – WTS letter holders (Singaporeans > 35 years old earning <$1900) can enjoy 95% subsidy. In addition, you can also get Training Allowance of $4.50 per hour of lesson by applying through Self-Help Groups or Community Development Council (CDC).
  • CQA (CET Qualification Award) - Participants (Singapore Citizens only) achieving their first WSQ Diploma can apply for the CQA (CET Qualification Award) of $1000 upon completion of the Diploma.

Mode of Assessment


Participants are required to undertake continuous assessments, assignments and written test for each module.

 

 


Certification


Upon completion of all the 10 modules, participants will be awarded the WSQ Diploma in Freight and Transport Services if they achieved at least 75% attendance rate as well as certified competent through all assessments and projects required by the course.

Participants may login to Skills Connect to print e-certs for Statement of Attainment (SOA) for each module.

3. Withdrawal Procedures

Withdrawal notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy via email to [email protected] For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

• 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
• Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
• On or after date of commencement - No refund
The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.
